Accessibility at Life Built in Canada

We want every importer, exporter, buyer and provider to be able to use this platform. This page says what we do, what we know is not right yet, and how to reach us.

The Standard We Build To

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across the public site, the Trade Workspace and generated documents.

What That Means in Practice

  • Every page works with a keyboard alone. There is a "Skip to content" link and a visible focus outline.
  • Text and background colours meet the AA contrast ratio. Colour is never the only signal — status labels also use words.
  • Text can be resized to 200% without losing content. Layouts adapt from 320px wide upward.
  • Menus, dialogs and forms announce their state to screen readers.
  • We honour the "reduce motion" setting.
  • Generated PDFs include a title, headings and readable text — not scanned images.

Known Limitations

  • Some older downloadable PDFs were created before this standard. We are re-issuing them; until then, ask us for an accessible version.
  • Third-party services we link to — government portals, payment pages — follow their own accessibility practices.
  • Interactive calculators are being reviewed for screen-reader labelling of results. If a result is not announced, the same number appears in text below the tool.
